A lakeside campground in Hattah-Kulkyne National Park, with walking tracks including the 9.5km Mournpall Lake Loop past River Red Gum flood plains and Mallee dunes. Non-flush toilets, fireplaces, picnic tables. Advance booking and payment required year-round, max 6 people/site. No dogs. Most of the park has reopened following January 2026 bushfires; a small area further north remains closed — this campground is unaffected.
Access is manageable but take the last stretch slowly, especially after rain.
On the ground you'll find basic (non-flush) toilets, no showers, unpowered sites, fires allowed in designated fireplaces (never on Total Fire Ban days). Nearest shops: Jason's IGA, Ouyen, about 41 km as the crow flies, so arrive fully stocked.
It sits roughly 450 km from Melbourne in the Mallee / North West Victoria, which makes it a reasonable run for a weekend away.
