A bush campground a short walk from Lake Victoria beach in Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park, near Loch Sport — drop toilets, fire pit, shelter, no bookings required. Sandy access road, not recommended for 2WD (deteriorates further after rain). CURRENTLY CLOSED — heavily damaged by an October fire, with many built assets (toilets, shelter etc.) lost; closed until recovery works are complete. No dogs — this site is not among the park's dog-permitted locations.
Getting in takes a bit more effort — a 4WD is needed, so it's not a spur-of-the-moment first trip.
On the ground you'll find basic (non-flush) toilets, no showers, unpowered sites, fires allowed in designated fireplaces (never on Total Fire Ban days). Nearest shops: Loch Sport General Store, ~4km — handy for anything you forget.
It sits roughly 265 km from Melbourne in the Wilsons Prom / Gippsland, which makes it a reasonable run for a weekend away.
