Eight numbered, dog-friendly camping areas among tall eucalypts on the southern edge of Lake Eildon, just south of Eildon township. Pit toilets, fireplaces throughout, boat ramp nearby, swimming and fishing (rainbow/brown trout, occasional Murray cod). Max 6 people per site, must bring your own drinking water. This is one of the statewide-named exceptions where Lake Eildon National Park permits on-lead dogs — every other campground in this park does not.
Access is manageable but take the last stretch slowly, especially after rain.
On the ground you'll find basic (non-flush) toilets, no showers, unpowered sites, fires allowed in designated fireplaces (never on Total Fire Ban days). Nearest shops: Eildon Grocer, ~6km — handy for anything you forget.
It sits roughly 145 km from Melbourne in the High Country / Lake Eildon, which makes it an easy run for a weekend away.
