Dandos Campground

A large, popular free campground on a bend of the Gellibrand River in Otway State Forest, with a grassy flat suitable for tents and caravans alike, plus a swimming hole. About 20 sites, unpowered, with toilets, picnic tables and firepits with BBQ plates provided. First-come-first-served, no bookings or fees. Dogs welcome — this is state forest, not national park.
Access is manageable but take the last stretch slowly, especially after rain.
On the ground you'll find basic (non-flush) toilets, no showers, unpowered sites, fires allowed in designated fireplaces (never on Total Fire Ban days). Nearest shops: Forrest General Store, about 9 km as the crow flies — handy for anything you forget.
